DL485x are expansion cards for home automation systems.

Through simple scripts it is possible to interface these expansions to other home automation systems how Domoticz, Home Assistance and all others.

For Domoticz is available a Plugin that permit to control all DL485x boards

RS485 communication takes place via DANBUS multimaster protocol which manages a network of equal nodes (with the same priority) without problems of a master node, with the possibility for each node of entry and exit from the network without collisions and without stall.

 

DL485M - Maxi Board

DL485M is an expansion card in which each individual I/O can be configured as a digital input or output and some I/O as an analog input or PWM output. I2C and OneWire sensors can also be managed. RX and TX are provided for the serial connection RS232 and A and B for the RS485 BUS.

DL485B - Box Rele

DL485B is an expansion card equipped with an ABS case with 4 generic I/O, I2C and 3 on-board relays. Each I/O can be configured as a digital input or output and an analog input. I2C sensors can also be managed. The 2 terminals for connection to the RS485 BUS are also provided.

DL485R - Box Reset

DL485R is an ABS expansion card with 4 generic I/O, I2C and 2 on-board relays (common, NC and NO). Each I/O can be configured as a digital input or output and an analog input. I2C sensors can also be managed. The 2 terminals for connection to the RS485 BUS are also provided.

Using these products it will be possible to remotely control through a simple twisted pair cables of digital and analogue I / O as well as temperature, humidity and pressure sensors such as DS18B20, BME280, AM2320, TSL2561 ....., through protocol OneWire and I2C. The possibility to set the communication speed allows covering considerable distances (until 1000 meters) even with mixed network topology.

The management of the OneWire and I2C communication protocols is open so that it can be adapted to different devices on the market which are therefore not pre-inserted in the nodes. Optionally, moreover, each node can store in EEPROM and manage automatic sequences of commands that are activated periodically and communicate to example the data of the sensors without the need for remote PC interrogation that can still be done.

On each card there are a button and 2 LEDs to program some parameters; moreover the LEDs also signal the RX / TX activity present on the BUS and the detection of errors.

Each product must initially be programmed using a key and 2 LEDs to set a unique address from 1 to 127 and a speed for the RS485 network equal between all nodes, preset by default at 9600bps, then the rest of the programming will be done using the PC.

  • DL485M - compact product with rectangular form complete with terminals block with all I/O pin availables
  • DL485B - board on black ABS enclosure with 3 relays, 4 I/O, I2C as well as power supply and BUS output
  • DL485P - mini PCB board specifically designed to be inserted on breadboard and/or PCB dedicated to specific functions
  • DL485R - interface with two diverter relays that can also be used to manage the switching on and off of the Raspberry Pi equipped with a backup battery

The boards must be placed near the relative I / O and must be connected via 2 wires twisted to the A and B terminals of the RS485 BUS. For convenience you can use a category 5E cable (with 4 pairs of cables inside) where a pair must be connected to the BUS, and the others pairs can be used to supply power (8-24Vdc).

The nodes working at 5Vdc and have an internal switching power supply with a maximum input voltage of 24Vdc which allows to make up withstand voltage drops of cables.

The various I / O can be configured as:

  • Digital output
  • Analog output (PWM 8bit)
  • Digital input
  • Analog input (10bit)

Each I/O can also handle OneWire devices

Among these I/O there are two PINs that can also be configured as:

  • OneWire with reinforced pullup for connecting temperature sensors (even more than one in parallel) DS18B20 etc (Board DL485M).
  • I2C to connect various sensors including AM2320B, BME280, TLS2561, etc.

An open source plugin for Domoticz is available which, via a configuration file, programs the various tabs at startup and generates all the devices in the graphical interface.

A python library is available to manage the board even all other system
